Waiheke Island 11-13 January 2008
Jan. 30th, 2008 | 01:38 pm
Anyway.
We went to Waiheke Island on a Friday night so as to be able to spend a full Saturday there with out having to waste time on the ferry.
This was the ferry we took. Surprisingly, it can actually fit about 30 cars on it. It was full when we went to Waiheke but was full on the way home.
We got to Waiheke really late at night and arrived at the retreat that we were staying at at about 9.30pm. This retreat is called Heartsong Retreat. It's a family friend's resort.
We were greated by their cat, Milo, who kept following mum around the villa that mum and dad were staying in coz he used to stay there. And he thinks that mum is going to feed him food. He is about 15 years old. But still adorable.
~ The Villa mum and dad stayed in ~
It was a really nice place to go. I suggest that if anyone wants to go for a nice relaxing short holiday, Waiheke Island is the place to go. They have nice views and its a quaint little place to stay in with a town near by.
Went to the beach quite a bit. They had really nice beaches there.
And we went canoeing down at the 'Private' beach that was near the resort.
Other than that, there wasn't much else that we did. We just wanted a nice a quiet holiday.
And now, I pray that this entry will upload properly.

Piha Beach 27 December 2007
Jan. 30th, 2008 | 12:56 pm
Now, on to the first post.
Mum, Dad and I went for a drive on the 27th to Piha beach.
Didn't stay long coz it was so windy and hot at the same time. And we didn't have proper shade except an umbrella that kept being blown off. One guy had to help us run after our umbrella once. It was then we decided to finish up our beach trip and go home.
~ Dad, Mum and me ~
~ Mum and Dad ~
~ Mum and I under our not-so-useful shade ~
There was a funny part when Mum was holding the umbrella and a cup of coffee. Bad idea. The wind blew the umbrella away causing mum to spill her coffee all over her (it was too hot). Mum doesn't want to show the picture of her with coffee all over her. That was the time a guy had to run after our umbrella.
Well, it didn't turn out too well. But it was still a good day. It was after this that we decided that we should buy a beach tent thing.

People should just stop using drugs. It has taken so many young lives. It's such a waste.

Christmas Is Here!!

Merry Christmas!!!
Its been quite good so far. Had church this morning. Then went for Dim Sum for lunch. Asians really know how to earn money. They know that other places will be closed and people would like to celebrate Christmas. So they open restaurant. Smart.
Then Mum, Dad and I opened presents ^^ !!!!!!!!!!!!
Mum and Dad actually already gave me my present last week. It was my entertainment unit. ^^. But Mum gave me another present. A pair of shoes. But that was coz her slipper broke on the way to work so she needed to buy another pair. So she went to Hannahs, which had 2 for 1 sale. So she got me a pair of shoe. Thank you Mummy and Daddy.
~ Entertainment Unit ~
~ My New Shoe ~
From Aunty Mary, I got this fancy table lamp in the shape of a large light bulb. And to turn it on, tap the base of the light. So its touch sensitive. ^^ So cool. Actually, Aunty Mary told me to visit the shop she works at, Origin, and have a look at what was nice there that I could want. Saw that. Let her know that it was cool. But didn't expect her to buy it coz it was quite ex. But Thank you Aunty Mary for the present.
~ My Lamp ~
Sam gave me my present like a week or 2 back. Its written in an earlier entry. Will start reading it. But not sure when. ^^
~ Harry Potter ~
For Mum, I bought her a clock and a short jacket kind of thing. She has been wanting to find one so bought her one. I know that us asians have this superstition that says that giving a clock to someone means you are counting their time down to their death. But I don't believe in that superstition. So I gave her a clock. Which is actually for the house, but still. Its a nice and simple but nice looking one. It just consist of the hands and no numbers or face. So you gotta know how to read the time really well.
~ Mum's New Clock ~
For Dad, I got him a GPS system. He has been saying that they are so cool and that one day he will get one. In my head, I kept saying: ' Yes Dad, one day. Christmas Day. Just don't buy one before then.' He was shocked when he opened it. Said that I shouldn't have spent my money on it. But I told them that this is the first time that I have money of my own. I still have enought to save for myself. But I'd like to give Mum and Dad something for Christmas this time coz I have money of my own. So I got him this. We were trying to use it earlier when we went for lunch. But it didn't seem to work very well. When we are at home, it can't read that we are at our street. Our location is marked somewhere on the st that is parallel/perpendicular to us. So Dad is going to go to the company to ask them about it.
~ Dad's new GPS ~
So thats what happened today. Nothing much. But its good. ^^
Hope all you people have a good Christmas!!

giddy
There is only 1.5 more days till Christmas now!! It has come so fast.
I'm almost done with Christmas shopping. Got Dad's, going to get Mum's tomorrow. And I'm done. I know Mum's is quite last minute but it was hard looking for the suitable present. But I think I have found one and hopefully, it is still there tomorrow.
On Friday afternoon, the entertainment unit was fixed up in my room. It looks quite good. ^^ Will take a photo and put it up here.
Nothing much has happened since I last updated. Been working. So thats really it. Tomorrow I'm working again. But its only till 2. Not sure if I'm going to have break. I might have a 10min break but not sure about getting lunch. Coz its straight appointments all the way from 7.50am till 2pm. But should be good.
Going to have a BBQ tomorow night. Going to use our new BBQ pit. Will see how good its going to cook. Hope the weather will be good tomorrow.
Everyone is asking what we are doing for Christmas. But its NZ, its boring here during Christmas coz everything is closed. Oh well, it's a day to spend with family. ^^
Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!!

The Past 3 Days
Dec. 19th, 2007 | 06:05 pm
mood:
tired
It has been quite busy at work this week so far. On Monday, we had an emergency C-section on a Sharpei cross. She had been straining since the Saturday before and no babies were coming out. So she came in and we delivered her babies for her. There wasn't a complete chance for her babies to survive. But, the out come was really good. All 6 of her babies survived. I'll put pics up once I have transferred it to my comp. I have to annouce, today is the first day that one of the vets doesn't correct me in everything I do. Finally.
That night, we went to watch Handel's Messiah. Performed by the Auckland Choral. It was good. Was quite tired from work so was a little sleepy.
Yesterday was just a busy day. Customers in and out. Lots of surgery. Just a busy day all over.
Ballet that night was good too. I have to practice holding my arms properly. Supposed to walk around the house with my arms held up.
Today's work was good too. Busy as well. It's weird coz you would think that people are on holiday so there won't be much pets coming in. But I guess coz people are going on holiday, everyone is coming in for vaccination. I did another dental today. This time on a dog.
But that is work for this week so far. I'm starting at 10am tomorrow. So I at least get a little bit more of sleep. ^^

Eventful day

tired
Today was such an eventful day.
Sam came over in the morning to get some PS2 games, and I found out that he got me a Christmas present. I opened it and found out that it was the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book in a big shoe box. A good way to deceive a person. I wrapped it back up and placed it under out Christmas tree. So now, we have 1 present under the tree. Haha. Well, now that I have it, I should start reading it. Haha. Find out what happened. But please, no one tell me anything about the book until I have said that I've finished reading it. Thanks! ^^
Went out this morning to look at furnitures. Saw in the newspaper that there was a furniture sale this morning. Went to have a look but didn't really find such nice stuff. Was looking for dark wood colour but it wouldn't match my bed. So went to another place in the city called Versatile.
At first we went to their old store. We didn't know that they have moved. But when we got there, had a chat with those people, and they quoted us a price for a entertainment set like thing. It consist of drawers, a stand for a tv and 2 shelves. They are all adjustable in the height. So I can have them leveled or uneven. They will be coming to fix it up for me on the 21st. So I will take a photo once it is all done.
Then we had a Street Christmas BBQ. It was a really good way to know the neighbours. Had it at the small patch of gass/roundabout that we have at the bottom of the street. It was just outside our driveway. But it was really good. There wasn't much people my age. Mostly parents and their young kids. But it was still good. Had a really good time there. The bbq started really early. Had dinner at like 5pm. So when we got back home at about 9pm, we had another supper of instant noodles.
So it was a very busy day today. I'm off to shower now. Getting tired.
Nights peeps!!

Second Ballet Class
Dec. 11th, 2007 | 09:22 pm
Lily taught me today. She slowly went through some of the movements so that I can learn the correct way. As well as to position my arms. And I have to learn how to arch my feet properly. My left one arches better then my right so I have to practice that. I need to stretch myself taller using my muscles on the inner side of my thighes and have a dimple on the inner side of my knees. And the muscles are not something that we use every day. But it was good. Lily has asked me to go to a class tomorrow as well. Its kinda a make up coz we don't have classes on Christmas and New Years Day. She has asked me to go for a brunch thing on Sunday too. She said it was a thank you thing for her students. Not sure if I'll go. Will see.
Today at work wasn't too bad. I had an overload yesterday. I didn't know stuff about the clinic and one of the vet kinda told me things about what I should have done. But the thing is that I didn't know how to do it. And so I kinda went into an overload and cried. The head nurse apologised coz she felt guilty for not being with me every day last week. But then again, I don't expect her to be with me all the time and it was really busy last week. And this overload happened in the morning. So it wasn't even in the middle of the day. I think it is just the reception job. Everything else is fine. I guess next Monday I'll ask for help again. Just so I don't do anything wrong.
Oh, we got new cutains at home. They came to fix them on this morning. It looks really good. And they are expensive too. Imported from italy. They are really soft and thick and really block out the sun. Really good. Dunno if I would wake up in the morning now. Haha.

Long day in car
Dec. 8th, 2007 | 08:14 pm
mood:
sad
Today, went all the way to Ascension Vineyard. Was about an hour and a half from home. And we actually missed the turn off. Was supposed to turn from Warkworth towards Goats Island. Instead, we went to Wellsford before I checked the map and realised that we have passed it. But we got there all good. Had lunch there. Had T-bone beef and asked for well done, but it ended up being medium well and so, had a bit of blood. EWWWWW.
After that , we did some wine tasting. Didn't realise that we had to pay $8 for tasting per person. But the bonus of that is that you get a glass with the vineyard name on it. We only paid for one person so only got 1 glass. We ended up buying 6 bottles of wine. And when you buy 6, you get $30 off your next purchase. Bought 3 whites, 2 reds and a aged tawny. The interesting thing about this vineyard, is that the names of the wines have a Bible related names. The ones we bought were 'Songs of Solomon', 'The Rogue', 'Flotsam & Jetsam', 'The Parable', 'The Twelve Apostle' and 'Fortitude'. They are all good wines and I'm going to open them for my 21st birthday party.
Then we went to Albany Westfield. So far, it is the biggest mall that we have in NZ. But, it actually isn't that big. They say 140 stores, but it doesn't look like it. And the shops can be found any where in NZ. So nothing special. Not worth going.
Then when we got home from this long day. I checked Lampchops coz I thought she had a matted fur on her thighs. But when I checked it today, I found out that she is actually having a skin problem. I can't believe she has it. She was checked 2 weeks ago and the vet said that she was fine and didn't have anything wrong with her. But now she has a skin problem. It could have been caused when I placed her on the grass to eat. There were heaps of sand flies so they could have bitten her. Or maybe spiders. But not sure. There is nothing else wrong with her other then this problem. She doesn't act any different either. No lethargy, not sick. So shouldnt' be anything too serious, but hopefully the vet can tell me what is wrong. I'll take her in with me to work when I book her in for an appointment on Monday.
Gah, can't believe I let my baby get until this stage of having a skin problem... T.T

I had written a papagraph but Tommy stood on the comp and erased it completely.
Anyway, today I started at 7.30. Didn't have much to do. Had 4 surgeries today. 2 dog speys and 2 cyst/lump removals. Also, had a cat that came in to have Soft Paws put on. Which is putting toe caps on their nails. Kinda sad coz they were pink in colour. Which means the grey cat will have pink nails. Isn't that sad? Even tho I love pink, I will never do that on my cats. As well as putting toe caps on. I have photos which I will put on once I transfer them.
Did more stock taking. Made appointments. All the usual.
We had a rabbit come in with infected eyes and ears and a skin problem. He came in before for maggots on him as well as in his scrotum. So gross. Apparently you can see it moving in the scrotum. And now with all these problems, you'd think the owner would have looked after it better after the previous treatment. But you can definitely tell that it was complete neglect. I can't stand these people. If you have the money to pay for treatment, then take care of it. Even now, the owner called and said that she doesn't want it treated and that they were taking it home after they brought it to the vet to have it looked at. So irresponsible. Cannot stand these people.
Well, I'm going to met dad now and then have dinner with him.

Reporting for today
Dec. 6th, 2007 | 08:11 pm
mood:
ecstatic
Today was good.
Started at 10am this morning. And worked till 6pm. Finished the rest of the christmas cards this morning. And coz I'm the late nurse, I am considered to be floating around the clinic. Which means, I just go around helping around if there is any thing to do.
After the cards, I checked the delivery of the food to make sure that we received the correct amount of food. And then placed them on the shelves.
I got interupted from my lunch by being pulled into a convo about rice risotto. So weird. They were wondering if there was a difference between rice and risotto.
After that, started vacuuming the clinic then didn't have much left to do. Sat in the reception not doing much.
Oh, and I remembered, I processed an xray. I know how to use the automation processor. But had to do everything in the dark. Everything which is opening the cassette, taking out the film, putting it into the processor, opening another box of film and replace a film into the cassette and close the cassette. And this is all done in the dark. But thats cool.
And I discharged a dog today. George, a bull dog. He is so adorable. It's surprising really coz I don't really fancy bull dogs. He came in for a soft palate surgery. And I discharged him today. And it went well. ^^
I just checked my exam results. I passed everything!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^^
Overall it was quite good. I'm really happy with my results. So I should be getting into 2nd year next year. ^^

Getting There...
Dec. 5th, 2007 | 05:29 pm
Did lots of writing from 1 something onwards. Was asked to write the Christmas cards for the clients. Wrote about 75 cards. My finger hurts now.
I guess now I'm getting more comfortable at work that I can now talk to the other nurses more freely.
I'm running out of things to say. It's so hard to think of what to write. So, I'm leaving it here.

My First Dental
Dec. 4th, 2007 | 11:03 pm
mood:
sleepy
Ok, for all you people thinking that I've only had my first dental recently, thats not what I meant. But I did my first dental on a cat today at work.
I naturally, like everyone else, don't really like going through the process of having my teeth scaled and cleaned. It's just the sound that is so horrible. It's slightly different when you are doing it as you kinda know what is actually going on. But it still does not sound good.
But I learnt how to scale a teeth. So anyone who needs scaling, you know who to find!!! Lol, a qualified dentist. I don't think I'll ever like doing dentals.
I was literally thrown into the deep end today at work. We had such a busy afternoon at the vet and I was helping out at reception. And naturally, for someone who is on their second day of work, would not know much about how the programme works. So, I got quite confused with how to add an item to a client's invoice, and also how to call up said item. They don't have one of those scanner thing, so everything has to be typed in. Each item has a specific code, which I do not know. But at least at the end of the day, I think I can managed as I now know how to get to the page where I can call up the item needed. And I know how to work an EFTPOS machine. Isn't that cool?? I've kinda always wanted to do that. Too bad they don't actually have a proper til. Thats what I really want to learn how to use. To me, its cool that you push all these buttons. But, I'll never work in retail or supermarket. So, will not be able to use this unless I end up joining a practice which has it.
I did my first discharge today. I was told to find the client and let them know that their pet was given general anaesthesia, came out well, did not have any teeth taken out, to be kept warm and indoors, was able to be fed dinner, go back to as normal tomorrow, and to give them their Advantage Multi Flea Treatment. I did all that, but forgot one thing, to give the flea treatment package. When I finally realised that I didn't do that, I sat at the chair for a while thinking what I should do now. I was thinking that I would have to call the client and tell them I didn't give the treatment to them. When I finally worked up my nerve, I asked the receptionist and she said that she had passed them the treatment already and that I didn't have to worry about it. I was so relieved. I have to learn to really remember things and be able to work under pressure and no feel so embarressed and uncomfortable doing things.
Another first for today (maybe I should rename my title to 'My First...') is that I went for my first ballet class. I was early. I found out that it only took me 5 to 8 mins to get from work to the ballet school. So I was really early. Again, I was thrown into the deep end. The class was going thru IF (I think) examination practice. Which means, that the steps that they did, the students knew how to do. I was the only one who had no background in ballet and there was only 6 people in class today. So, I had to learn as they practice. Which means lots of embarressments. I got quite lost some times, mucking up the steps, forgetting that the foot must go from front to back and front after every lift, lifting the correct arm in the right position and to hold it in said position without droping it. Its so confusing. I managed to get some, but it was still quite confusing and they went thru it pretty fast and did not practice it for long. But it was all good. Don't feel too sore now, the class was only about an hour long. But I won't guarantee that tomorrow morning I won't be sore.
Well, that was most of my day today, and I'm off to bed. Really tired and I have to get to work at 7.30am tomorrow.
Nights all!!!

First Day of Work
Dec. 3rd, 2007 | 06:38 pm
mood:
exhausted
I started work today. So early. Started at 7.30am.
Learned how they worked at the hospital. They are quite different then how Massey works. So its like a completely new thing.
Helped clean up the surgical instruments they used in surgery and weighed animals as they came in.
Not much done, but its only my first day so its going slow.
Will see how my next day is. Start at 10am tomorrow. Which means I end at 6.30pm. Which means I have to leave directly for ballet which starts at 7.15pm. Which means, I have to bring all my atire and hair tie and pins and gel to work. And I have to be able to do my hair quite fast. And its also my first ballet lesson. Hope it goes well.

Yesterday and Today
Nov. 30th, 2007 | 04:48 pm
Emma was with me yesterday. She arrived on Wed afternoon. She actually got lost but she didn't go too far so it was very near for me to go and get her. Yesterday, we went to Botany for Teppan-yaki for lunch. Had good food, then walked around the shops coz she needed to get tracks and was trying to look for thermals. But since it was summer time, she couldn't find thermals. Or she did, but they were really expensive. Then we went to Pakuranga Warehouse to get trackpants for her.
Came home, rested for a little while and started watching High School Musical 2. Which was a little cheezy but the music was quite good. Zac Efron acts and sings better in Hairspray.
At 6.30pm, dad came home and we left for Botany again coz there was a charity concert put on by Plunket with entertainment till about 9, when the big christmas tree was lighted. Got heaps of video and pics from there.
Had dinner at SaNook, a Thai restaurant at botany that had window seats facing the concert stage. So we still had a good view while eating.
Got home and continued watching High School. Went to bed at about 1.30am.
Today
Woke up at 11am today and just lazed about the house with Emma. Had lunch then sent Emma to her Aunt's place in Glenfield. We left at 2.30pm. Didn't think there was a jam, but there was a long one all the way from Mt. Wellington highway till the Habour Bridge. Took us an hour to get there.
So on the way home, decided to travel a different way. Went by Glen Innes side. There wasn't too much traffic, but coz it was inner roads, took me an hour to get home too. Maybe I should have tried the motorway. Might have been faster.
But thats all for today. Waiting for Dad to come home and see what is for dinner.

I have a job!! And my first week pay is going into ballet stuff...
Nov. 28th, 2007 | 01:50 pm
Went in today to talk to the vet person and had a tour around the vet. It was good. The vet seems a little small and the wards for the animals are quite small too. But it still looks good. Has ultrasound equipment, has xray machine and processor, I think they have an autoclave. Not sure. But it looks good. I start on Monday at 7.30am. I get a uniform too. ^^
And the other part of my title is that my first week pay is going to ballet stuff, it is true. I met with the lady today and she got me fitted with leotards, tights, cross over top, and character shoe. I didn't have to get soft shoes coz I already have one but she needs to check it to see if it is correct. All these stuff including my lesson fees cost $383. So ex. I'm so glad that I'm working.
My leotard is royal blue in colour. It looks ok. Lily, ballet lady, said that it looks good on me and I have a good figure. Haha. Well, its what she said.
Well, I start lessons on Tuesday night. Will see how it goes.

The Long Awaited Hair Pictures
Nov. 28th, 2007 | 12:14 am
~I love this photo. I'm sorry Jess if you don't like it~
~This is Emma, Jess and I. All with new hair cuts. Jess did hers on her own.
She cuts her own hair. Which she does really well~
Well, there you go, this is my new hair do. Now Raine, you can tell me what you think. I'm very bad at taking photos. Not photogenic at all. You have to see for yourself when you come home. It would be slightly longer then but should still be the same.
Well, I'm off to bed now. Gotta go for my 'interview-like' thing in the morning.
Nights Peeps!!
